How do I duplicate a project?

To duplicate an existing project, use the menu next to the project drop-down and select Duplicate.

This will create a copy of the selected project that you can begin editing. Using the duplicate option makes it easier than ever to iterate on your designs or create multiple project options to pitch. For example, you may want to use different projects to compare regular vs premium equipment, an expanded vs smaller layout, or solar vs solar plus storage.

If you already have multiple projects, select the project you want to copy before you select the Duplicate option.

Duplicating a Project After a Change in Production Methodologies:

If your organization has changed preferred production methodologies (e.g. from De Soto to PVWatts) after a project has been created, that project can be duplicated with either methodology. Production methodologies are changed by users with access to Settings - should a user attempt to duplicate a project with a now outdated preferred methodology, a prompt will appear asking which method the user would like to proceed with. The existing methodology can be used and calculations will remain the same - likewise, the alternative methodology can be selected and production calculations will update accordingly. Please read on below for an example of this functionality.

Navigate to the Project Phase of an existing project.
Select the triple dot dropdown adjacent to the project name: select “Duplicate”.

If your organization’s standard production methodology has changed, users will encounter the following prompt. (In this example, the organization has changed its' preferred production methodology from PVWatts to De Sotoo methodology.)
Select the first option to continue using the production methodology that the project was created with.
Select the second option to update the project to utilize the now-preferred methodology for your organization.
After choosing your production methodology, select “Duplicate Project” in green to either proceed with the existing methodology and calculations or update the methodology and associated calculations.
Proceed to make any necessary changes on the now duplicated project.

Note: given there are two duplicate projects on for a project site that are identical outside of production methodology (one is PVWatts and the other is De Soto methodology), the same product may only be available on one of the two projects, as certain products are limited to one production methodology or the other.
